Guard Your Heart

Proverbs 4:23 says, “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” (NLT)
So often we are bombarded by the world and all that is in the world.  As Christians we need to guard our hearts to keep ourselves pure and God minded. It is so easy to get off course just a tiny bit here and there. Before you know it you have fallen completely off the wagon and are headed down a path and become so lost you aren’t sure how to get back to where you were supposed to be. The wonderful news is that God’s grace is so much more than we could ever hope for.  He is so loving that he scoops us in his arms and leads us back to where we need to be.
With each generation things slip a bit more downhill.  The things we see on our commercials, let alone the shows themselves, would have never been on the networks 20 years ago.  Lately I have had such an urgency to guard and protect my children. Be led by the Spirit and guard your children’s hearts. Their innocence is something you can never get back once it is gone. We have only a short time to train them in the things of God and to have a heart to please him. Take the time to know what your kids are reading or watching on TV.  It may not be the most popular choice to turn off a certain show, or to say no to an activity that they shouldn’t be participating in, but the spiritual and eternal value will far outweigh any negative.  I know when I was a teen my parents made several choices for me that down right made me angry, but now that I am a mom I can look back and say, “Thank you, for caring enough about me and my future to make those tough choices.”
I would love to be my children’s best friend, but right now they need a mommy who is willing to make tough decisions on their behalf and help to guard their hearts. I know someday, not to far from now, they will thank me for helping to mold them to the amazing God fearing men and women they will become.
Don’t be discouraged, thankfully we have help along the way. God is there guiding and helping lead us every step we need to take to raise responsible, Godly, children.

In Him,
Heather

Roly Poly Fun

Do you remember being a kid and loving roly polys?

It was such a beautiful day today and while my husband was out doing the yard work the kids were busy finding roly poly hideouts all in our yard.

Even my prissy little girl got in on the action!

Everyone wanted to show off their new little friends 🙂

The wonderful thing about summer is that sometimes you can just go discover something in your yard to play with and it can entertain the kids for hours.

We are creating memories just taking the time to be together outside! I hope everyone is having a wonderful week.

In Him,
Heather

Guess I Should Introduce…

I realized I had not introduced my sweet little family to you yet. Well here it goes. Matt and I have been married for 11 years (in September), and we have 4 amazing full of life children. For the sake of the blog I am going to be giving each of my kids a nickname. (just so you don’t think I lost my mind when naming my children)

My oldest son “The Artist” is 9 and starting the 4th grade in the fall. (my where does the time go?)

My only girl out of the group is Tinker Bell who is 7 and she is starting 2nd grade in the fall.

Last but not least are my identical twin boys who are 5 and starting K in the fall.
The first and oldest twin (by 2 minutes) is Monkey.

Froggy (named for his love of frogs) 🙂

Well that is our troop. Each fun and different in their own ways and they each bring more joy to my life than I could have ever hoped for.

In Him,
The Cook Family
