I have read both of these and loved them!

How to Have a Heart for Your Kids by Rachael Carman

Here is what Apologia’s website says about the book:

How well do you really know your kids? What has God shown you about who they are and who they will become? He has sent these children into your home at this specific time for His glorious purposes. Indeed, you have been invited on the adventure of a lifetime, a journey on which you will see walls fall, seas parted, and giants slain. You don’t need special skills or training for this journey—you need only to seek God and hold tight to His mighty hand! As with so many things, the first step to having a heart for your children is knowing your heavenly Father. As you seek daily to share His heart for your children, keep this inspirational book close at hand.

7 Tools For Cultivating Your Child’s Potential by Zan Tyler

Here is what Apologia’s website says about the book:

God created the family to be a powerful, life-shaping force in the lives of your children to be the place where their potential can be energetically and effectively nourished and cultivated. Sadly, in today’s culture, kids and parents alike often think of home as the spot to recharge their cell phones, change clothes between activities, and then crash at night. Journey with Zan Tyler beyond the status quo and learn to use the tools the Master Gardener has provided for tending and teaching all your children, whether they’re toddlers or teens. She will help you recognize the signs of potential in each child, signs that are easy to miss yet are ripe for cultivation. As you read, you will find exciting ways to enable your kids to establish a godly identity, discover their purpose, develop a biblical worldview, and build leadership and communication skills.

Parenting The QBQ Way + A Giveaway

I can’t think of a better way to wrap up our week on legacy, than to tell you about this amazing resource. I was first introduced to John G. Miller from QBQ at Beech Retreat. His keynote was my absolute favorite while I was there. He blessed us with some really great material at the conference. In fact, I didn’t even wait until I got home to begin digging into Parenting the QBQ Wayone of the books that he sent home with us. I had more than half of it read before my plane ever touched back on the ground.

QBQ is all about asking the question behind the question, and taking personal accountability. So what does that have to do with parenting? EVERYTHING! This book is changing the way my husband, and I are raising our children. Instead of always asking, why are they always doing this or that, we have started asking ourselves QBQ questions to see what we need to do to fix the situation.

Yes, children make mistakes and they need guidance along the way. More than that though, they need parents who are actively involved in their lives. They don’t need another best friend, or someone to take the back seat when it comes to their decisions and actions. They need someone who will not be passive in their lives. Our children, believe it or not are crying out for discipline and correction. They need parents who will take the time to be present in their lives.

I could sit here and list all the points the book has, but you really need to read this one for yourself. My amazing friends at have sent me 3 copies of Parenting the QBQ Way to give to 3 of my readers.
