Peace Be Still

Do you ever feel like you are out in the middle of the ocean, getting beat by wave after wave and never able to really catch your breath before the next blow hits. I know I have! It seem like everything that that could go wrong does and you can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. But, you know what there is, and his name is God! He is always there even when it seems that all hope is lost. The answer may not be what it is you were expecting, but there is always an answer if you will ask and listen.
I know for me, there have been times when homeschooling isn’t going as I expected, bills are coming in more consistent than the money, kids get sick, things break that have to be repaired, and on and on.
It is so easy to loose sight of what is important and focus on everything going wrong instead of everything that is going right. Yes, life gives us waves along the way, but with each one I am learning to rely on Him more and the way I think it should go less. There is always something to learn and gain from each negative that happens. Are those times fun, absolutely not! But we can turn the table and make it have a positive ending.
As this school year was coming to a close, I started looking at new curriculum choices. We all know there are LOTS of options out there for us. I had been so discouraged with the way that our year had gone. The curriculum I had chose was just not a good fit for our family. I became so overwhelmed with catalogs and brochures that I was literally getting stressed and staying up late every night trying to read all the reviews and figure things out. Needless to say I finally stopped to listen to that still small voice and you know what He said? “If you would take the time to pray and ask me, I know the perfect fit for each of your children.” Wow! Imagine that God knows exactly what each of our children need. Profound I know, but so many times we get so busy and wrapped in our circumstances that we forget to turn to the one who has ALL the answers.
So if you find yourself feeling like you are drowning in a sea of chaos and you can’t catch your breath, stop and seek the answers from the One who truly does know it all! He is more than willing to help and loves us so much that even if it is something simple like curriculum choices, if we seek him the answer is just around the corner.

“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7 (NLT)
